Camilla (カミラ Kamira), also known as Fruit Jelly (フルーツゼリー Fruit Zelly), is a character that appeared in the second season of anime series Restaurant to Another World.

Biography[]

Camilla is a mermaid priestess to Blue, Lord of the Sea, who was entrusted with mission to monitor the attempted revival of the Demon God in the Northern Continent. As a gift, she was given a drop of Blue's blood which granted her immortality. She still needs to pray to Blue to acquire the legs of a human if needed. She was once a prominent high priestess of the dragon god.

She is now known as the "Witch of the Cape", who lives near the human town by the sea. She built a house that connected underground to her ocean home. She is known as a witch because sells potion of the sea to human who visits her from time to time. She has lived there for at least 60 years.

After sampling the Western Restaurant Nekoya's fruit jelly, it became her quest to perfect the formula of combining fruits and gelatin.

Physical Appearance[]

Mermaid Form: As a mermaid, Camilla's upper body appears human while her lower body consists of a fish tail. Specific visual details are sparse in the original work, but she is depicted as a mature and elegant woman with long blue hair and matching fish tail. In her mermaid form, she typically does not wear clothing on her upper body, though this form is rarely seen as she primarily lives on land. Her mermaid form emphasizes the elegance and mystique of marine creatures.

Human Form: Through prayer, Camilla can fully transform into a human form, complete with human legs and optional wings (resembling dragon wings). She appears as a woman in her 20s to 30s, though her actual age far exceeds this (at least 55 years or older, possibly even immortal). Known as the "Witch of the Cape," she disguises herself as an ordinary woman in human society, wearing simple and practical clothing (such as robes or everyday attire) to blend into life on land. Her appearance conveys maturity and wisdom, with smooth skin and sharp eyes, giving an overall impression of a noble priestess.

Powers and Abilities[]

Transformation Ability: Through prayers to the Blue God, she can transform her tail into human legs, achieving a complete human form. This divine blessing allows her to move freely on land. Unlike other priests, her transformation is more thorough, enabling her to fully integrate into human society.

Immortality and Longevity: The Blue God granted her a drop of blood, bestowing upon her immortality. She does not age or die of natural causes, though she still requires sustenance and rest.

Magic and Priestess Abilities: As the High Priestess of the Blue God, she possesses powerful water-based magic, including the ability to create potions (such as using seaweed to make jelly or gelatinous substances). She is skilled in alchemy, capable of transforming marine materials into practical items, and can monitor otherworldly events (such as signs of the resurrection of demon gods).

Other: Chosen as the Blue God's Observer, her power is among the highest level among mermaid priestesses, enabling her to perceive dangers and supernatural events.

Trivia[]

  • While Camilla is granted to magically switch into a full human form, another mermaid priestess Arte does the same way but only with the legs of the blue dragon.
    • Also, they both seem to be living a different lifestyle; Camilla is actively being a part of humanity, while Arte primarily stays at the bottom of the sea.
