Undine is the main character in a movie Die Kleine Meerjungfrau. Undine is portrayed by an actress Zoe Moore.
Biography[]
Undine is the youngest daughter of the sea-king, and she has two sisters Aquarella and Melusine. Undine likes to go on the surface and watch humans. Once he saw a man drowning, and saved him, and hid behind a rock when she heard people. Two women came but they left soon after. Undine watched after the man, until he was taken away. She then returned home telling her adventures to her family. She thought of having a soul, which mermaids can have when they share a love with a mortal.
Undine went to the sea-witch Mydra for advice. Mydra gave her a potion that would give her legs but would take her voice. She also warned Undine that if the man loves another, she-would turn to sea foam. The next day Undine went to the surface and drank the potion. Soon after the man came with his friends and took her with them to the man's home. The man turned out to be a Prince. Prince Nikolas tried to have Undine dressed but none of the dresses fit her, so she wore men's clothing. she didn't use shoes though and ran around barefooted.
Once during a horse ride Prince Nikolas revealed that he loves the woman who saved him from drowning, but described that woman who had come after Undine hid. Undine was hurt by that revelation and rode back to the mansion. The Prince went after her and tried to inquire why she ran. During the mansion tour, Undine saw a large fish in the kitchen. In the night she sneaked out and released the fish.
Following days, Undine tried to seduce the Prince, but he was madly in love with the mysterious woman. Then came the day when the Prince would meet the woman who he was arranged to be married by his father. Undine in her last effort to woo the Prince dressed in a beautiful gown. Nikolas asked Undine for a dance, and she was very happy for a moment. However the betrothed woman turned out to be Prince's mysterious love, Princess Anneline. Nikolas and Anneline were married at the spot by the king. Undine realizing that Prince will never love him ran from the party. During the night when Undine was crying near the sea, her sisters came to give her a dagger. They had sold their hair to the sea-witch for it. If Undine were to kill the Prince with the dagger, she would turn back to mermaid, and would not turn to sea foam. Undine took the dagger, but decided not to kill Nikolas, as she still loved him. Undine prepared to die, but come the sunrise, the sea-witch Mydra arrived and revealed that it all had been a test. Mydra gave Undine back her voice and told her that when someone truly loves someone else selflessly has a soul. Mydra then took Undine to travel the world.
